Friends of Historic Nacogdoches, Inc. (FoHNI) is excited to host a free public lecture on Thursday, February 20th, at 4:30 PM at the historic Zion Hill Baptist Church. Esteemed historian Dr. Scott Sosebee will present "Sam and Anna: A Love Story? The Unconventional Courtship of Sam Houston and Anna Raguet."
Dr. Sosebee, a Professor of History at Stephen F. Austin State University and Executive Director of the East Texas Historical Association, is widely respected for his expertise in Texas history. His engaging style and depth of knowledge make his talks a highlight for anyone interested in the rich stories of the past.
This presentation will explore the relationship between Sam Houston, one of Texas’ most prominent historical figures, and Anna Raguet, a young woman from Nacogdoches. Their correspondence and interactions shed light on a lesser-known chapter of Houston’s life, offering insight into the personal side of this legendary Texan.
The lecture also serves as a meeting for FoHNI members but is open to the public. Admission is free, and all are welcome to attend.
