The African American Heritage Project (AAHP) is sponsoring a barbecue fundraiser and silent auction on Saturday October 5, 2024 to raise funds for the ongoing restoration of the historic Clay House (named for the longest inhabitants of the house) located in the Zion Hill Historic District.
The AAHP will serve plates of brisket, Merci’s World Cuisine potato salad, beans, bread and desserts from 12 pm until 2 pm on the grounds of the Clay House, 720 Bois d’ Arc St., adjacent to the original and historic Zion Hill Baptist St. on Lanana St. A donation of $15.00 is suggested for each ticket. Tickets are available at the event, on the Eventbrite web-site or from any AAHP board member. Folks are encouraged to stay and eat but there is always the to-go option. There will also be a drive through available. During the event, you can tour the Clay House and see the progress that’s been made, so far.
Co-sponsors for the fundraiser include, Iron Wheel Baptist Church, Austin Heights Baptist Church, Merci World Cuisine, Hightower, Franklin & James Law Offices and Stuckey & Garrigan Law Offices, LLC.
